Why Does My GFCI Outlet Keep Tripping?

A ground-fault circuit interrupter, commonly called a GFCI, shuts off power when it detects electricity moving along an unintended path. Repeated tripping may be related to a wet or damaged appliance, moisture in an outlet or exterior box, damaged wiring, equipment leakage, a downstream receptacle, incorrect installation or a GFCI device that is no longer operating properly.
